Vista and Windows 7 file access problems
Hi,

A minor problem has been reported with FormalFTA on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

These platforms restrict user write access to the "Program Files" area where the FormalFTA program is installed. FormalFTA was developed for Windows XP and ported to Vista and Windows 7. Because of this, the default file location is where FormalFTA has been installed. i.e. in Program Files. This causes two problems:
If you try to save a fault tree or event database that you have created and use the default location in the file dialog (which is where FormalFTA has been installed), the file will not be saved.
If you access any of the FormalFTA examples from the installation location and perform any action which results in a file being created, FormalFTA will try and use the same location as the tree to store the file. This will also fail.
To work around this, do the following:
If you are saving a new tree, select a location in the Users area on the C: drive from the file selection dialog.
To experiment with the examples provided with FormalFTA, copy the examples sub-folder to a location in the Users area and open the tree from there.

Note that this is a known problem and is due to be fixed in the next release of FormalFTA.
